Facility Projects

The hallowed buildings and facilities on the banks of the Red Cedar define Michigan State University.  With each structure a story is told linking the past to the present all while setting the stage for the future.  For prospective student-athletes, nothing makes more of a first impression than the stadium, arena, or field that they will come home while attending Michigan State.

Michigan State offers some of the finest and most modern facilities within the Big Ten for athletic competition – thanks to donor support.

spartan stadium renovations – videoboard replacement

– PHASE 1 – to be completed before the 2025 season

As change comes to college athletics, a successful football program will be essential for the overall health of the athletic department. Football also unites the campus community for home games and is a key driver of economic success in the local economy.

Beginning next season, all fans will benefit from new videoboards. The existing videoboards were installed prior to the 2012 season and are beyond their anticipated life cycle. Videoboards are key to providing an enjoyable gameday experience for all, while also serving as a primary revenue generator for corporate sponsorships.

Just in time for the 2025 season, all fans will benefit from new videoboards:

  • North end zone videoboards
  • South end zone videoboard
  • Large north end zone fascia ribbon board
  • Two north end zone field-level ribbon boards
  • South end zone field-level ribbon board

Renovations to the West Tower provide a modern space to host events, donors, and dignitaries central to advancing both the department and university’s missions. multi-sport arena

Michigan State is currently in the planning stages of a mixed-use facility, which could include retail, a hotel and academic buildings. Plans for the project also include a new arena, which will be the future home for Spartan volleyball, gymnastics, and wrestling. These programs continue to build a loyal following throughout the community, and a new arena will only serve to stimulate more growth. Beyond MSU athletics, the arena will provide another facility to better serve the entertainment needs and demands of the community, including engaging events such as concerts and high school events.
