    Chuck Sleeper began his tenure with MSU Athletics in October, 2002. Prior to that Chuck spent nearly three years at Arizona State University as Assistant Athletic Director for Development, as well as eight years at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, as Associate Athletic Director for Advancement. After playing a key role in the Spartan Stadium expansion, Chuck was promoted to Sr. Associate Athletics Director at MSU in October, 2005.

    As Senior Associate Athletics Director, Sleeper oversees a 20-member fund development team. During his tenure, Sleeper has orchestrated a period of unprecedented growth in private support with over $250 million in gifts and commitments raised since he assumed leadership of the athletic development operation. In addition to creating and branding the Spartan Fund, Chuck and the Spartan Fund team have led fund raising efforts that have resulted in several new and refurbished facilities including Old College Field — DeMartin (Soccer) Stadium, Secchia (Softball) Stadium, McLane Baseball Stadium, Pentecost Plaza; the Skandalaris Football Center; new basketball locker rooms for men’s and women’s programs; and the North End Zone Expansion. In addition, over 100 new endowments have been established for MSU Athletics for a total of $13M, during Sleeper’s tenure.

    Chuck was a four-year letter-winner in baseball and received his Bachelor of Science degree (Political Science) from Grand Valley State University in 1983. Chuck earned his masters of science in Sports Administration in 1986 from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida.

    Chuck and his wife, Julia, have two children: Luke and Olivia.

    Mark leads the Major Gifts team and Spartan Fund Development Officers in their efforts to establish donor relationships and cultivate significant financial gifts in support of MSU Athletics. Additionally, he has led the recent increase and focus for endowment support and planned giving through the Spartan Fund. Mark joined MSU as the first Director of Sales for Premium Seating in 2006. His background includes a variety of roles working for an NFL franchise, collegiate sports marketing firm, minor league baseball team, and an independent business news organization.

    Mark is a proud Spartan alumnus, class of 1992, and resides in Okemos with his wife, and 2 sons (future Spartans).

    Tim Day

    Tim Day joined the Michigan State University Athletic Department’s development staff in August 2009.

    As an Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Annual Giving, Tim is charged with developing, implementing and evaluating all annual giving initiatives and programs – including acquisition, stewardship, and communication to the MSU Athletics donor base. Managing the Annual Giving team, Tim has also led seat adjustment efforts and a redesign of the Spartan Fund website and online giving experience.

    Tim, a former letterwinner at Michigan State, played two seasons of professional baseball with the Chicago White Sox organization. Tim earned a bachelor’s of science degree (Kinesiology) from MSU in 2006 and continued his education by earning a master’s of science in 2009 from MSU.

    Tim and his wife, Alyssa, have three children, Easton, Rylan, and Elijah, and reside in Fowlerville.

    Erin Cazal joined the Spartan Fund in 2010 as an assistant director for the annual fund and currently serves as a major gift officer for the Midwest region. Prior to her time at Michigan State University, Erin worked as a lobbyist and political fundraiser at a multi-client lobbying firm in Lansing, Michigan.

    Originally from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Erin graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in public relations. Erin is active in the community and has served on the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan board, chaired the East Lansing Art Festival board and coached Masters swimming at the Michigan Athletic Club.

    Erin lives in East Lansing with her husband, Adrian and his two daughters, Isabella and Makena.

    Dorn McGaw has been with the Michigan State University Athletic Department since 1998 and joined The Spartan Fund in 2008.

    Dorn is a member of the Spartan Fund’s Major Gift Team as an Associate Director of Development. Dorn is responsible for the cultivation and stewardship of donors across the country with an emphasis on Southeastern Michigan. Dorn’s role in Southeast Michigan is to develop new relationships with MSU Alumni while keeping current Spartan donors engaged and involved with Michigan State University.

    Dorn and his wife Elizabeth have been East Lansing Residents for the past 21 years. Elizabeth is a MSU graduate and currently works in the Chemistry Department at MSU. Daughter Kaylei graduated from MSU in 2010 and Daughter Darby begins her senior year at MSU in the fall of 2014.

    Josh Morton joined the Spartan Fund staff in December, 2012. He works with Spartans throughout Michigan and parts of the western U.S. to help them make their impact at MSU through charitable gifts.

    He came to the Spartan Fund from a similar role at the University of North Dakota where he was a walk-on quarterback on the football team, graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting. Before a career in college athletics, Josh was a local TV Sports Anchor in Charleston, SC.

    More than a dozen of his family members have attended or are currently attending Michigan State and his sister, Stephanie (’93) worked for Coach Perles in the football office as a Spartan Aide. He and his wife Robin have 3 children in the Haslett Public Schools and live in East Lansing.

    John became a member of the Spartan Fund staff in August 2014.  John will focus on engaging the Spartan family to create opportunities that will impact MSU student-athletes.

    Prior to Michigan State, John served as the Assistant Director of the National Commodore Club and Athletics Development at Vanderbilt University. Originally from Columbia, Tennessee, John graduated from the University of Memphis with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and was a football student-athlete. John also holds a master’s of business administration from Marshall University where he was a graduate assistant in the athletic department.

    John and his wife Jenny reside in Lansing.

    Bryan Hoch joined the Michigan State University Athletic Department’s development staff in January 2013, previously working in the Spartan Ticket Office as the Assistant and Associate Ticket Manager since 2005.

    As Director of Premium Seating, Bryan oversees sales and management of suite, club, and courtside seating areas for MSU Athletics. In addition, Bryan assists both the Annual Giving and Major Gifts teams with donor stewardship and fundraising initiatives while ensuring premium seat donors have memorable game-day experiences.

    Bryan earned both B.S. and M.Ed. degrees in Sport Management from East Stroudsburg University (PA) where he was also a 4-year letter winner on the football team. Prior to MSU, Bryan worked in the ticket offices at Lehigh University and the University of Maryland.

    Bryan is a native of Bath, PA and currently resides in Lansing, MI with his wife, Dr. Sara Timmons-Hoch.

    Sarah Skilling has been with Michigan State University since July of 2007 and began working for the MSU Athletic Department in May of 2012.

    As the Director of Donor Relations and Events, Sarah’s main responsibilities include planning special events and experiences for Spartan Fund donors. She also works with internal and external groups and organizations on collaborative events related to MSU Athletics.

    After graduating from MSU in 2000 with an Advertising degree, Sarah worked at the Lansing State Journal for five years doing marketing, promotions, special events and community relations. She was also a special events coordinator for the MSU Federal Credit Union from 2005-2007. Before MSU Athletics, Sarah worked for the MSU Alumni Association and University Advancement departments from 2007-2012.

    Sarah is a native of Rockford, MI. She played basketball and softball in high school and continues to enjoy playing organized sports.

    Sarah resides in Haslett, MI with her dog Parker.

    Elissa Unger joined the Michigan State Athletic Department’s development staff in November 2012.

    As Assistant Director of Special Gifts, Elissa is charged with developing and managing a portfolio of special and major gift prospects, with focus on solicitations of $25,000 and above. Elissa has also worked with donor relations, stewardship, and annual giving while with the Spartan Fund.

    Elissa is a former field hockey letter winner (2006-10) and Big Ten Champion at Michigan State. Elissa earned her Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Business from MSU in 2010. She continued her education by earning her Master’s in Sport and Recreation Management from Kent State University in 2012 while working in KSU’s athletic development office.

    Otis Wiley joined the Spartan Fund in August 2012.

    As an Assistant Director of Special Gifts, Otis is charged with developing and managing a portfolio of special and major gift prospects, securing support from solicitations of $25,000 and above. Otis was also responsible for creating our Student-Athlete Thankathon initiative. He was selected as a 2014 NAADD (National Association of Athletic Development Directors) Diversity Initiative stipend recipient.

    Otis is a former football letter winner at Michigan State and earned a bachelor’s of social science (Family Community Services) from MSU in 2011.

    Otis and his wife DeAnna have a lovely Rottweiler named Scarlet.

    Justin Munson first joined the Michigan State University Athletic Department’s development staff as a Professional Aide in November 2012 before transitioning to a full-time position in March of 2014.

    Titled the Director of Internal Operations for the Spartan Fund, Justin oversees the Data Integrity team, ensuring efficiency in daily gift processing and accuracy of donor records. Justin’s responsibilities also include leading the allocation process for donor parking and supervising the Professional Aide positions. In his time with the Spartan Fund, Justin has assisted in seat adjustment efforts, development projects, and game day execution.

    Justin completed his Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology from Michigan State in 2011 and is currently working on his MBA in Athletic Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. While working on his undergraduate degree, Justin was a part of the Men’s Basketball team as a Student Manager. He assisted on back-to-back Big Ten Championship teams and took part in two Final Fours during his time with the team.

    Justin married his wife, Erin, in June of 2014.

    Martha Bernath joined the Spartan Fund family in February of 2002.

    Martha joined MSU with the College of Nursing in 2001 as a secretary. From there, she became the secretary/receptionist for the “Ralph Young Fund”. As the years went by she worked her way up to Administrative Assistant to Chuck Sleeper, Sr. Associate Athletic Director for the Spartan Fund. Her job duties have changed over the years, but her main responsibility is to Mr. Sleeper and assisting the donors who are part of the Athletic Directors Campaign Leadership Council (ADCLC). She works hard to build and maintain relationships with the Spartan Fund donors and to maintain the office day to day.

    Martha was selected by Athletic Director, Mark Hollis to represent Spartan Athletics on the Champion’s Team through the Disney Institute. This is something very near and dear to Mark Hollis and by being selected was an honor and one that Martha hopes to make a difference within the athletics environment.

Meg has worked at MSU since 2002 and prior to joining Spartan Fund, she provided administrative support to CIBER and Academy of International Business with the Broad College of Business. She earned her Associate’s degree in Marketing from Baker College and B.A. in Advertising from MSU.

    Jayme joined Spartan Fund in June 2014. Jayme has worked at MSU since 2013 and prior to joining Spartan fund she worked at the College of Engineering providing support to the department of Mechanical Engineering. She came to MSU from Jackson National Life where she worked for 9 years with the Data Management Team as a team leader.

     

    Jayme and her husband reside in Williamston and enjoy spending their spare time running weekend races and enjoying the outdoors with their daughter, Evalyn.

    Bri Lloyd joined the Spartan Fund in December 2013.

    As Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Annual Giving, Bri is the primary clerical support for the Annual Fund team.

    Bri, a former Events Supervisor at Michigan State, spent three and a half athletic seasons with the Spartan Ticket Office. Bri earned a bachelor’s of science degree (Psychology) from MSU in 2004.

    Bri and her husband, Alec (a James Madison College & Spartan Marching Band alumnus), reside in East Lansing and have three children: Katherine, Helen, and Erin.

    Morgan Albert joined the Michigan State University Athletic Department’s development staff in August 2013.

    As a Development Coordinator for Annual Giving, Morgan is often times the voice you hear on the other end of the phone; helping to assist and inform you in any way. Morgan also has been updating and creating many of the brochure, handouts, and e-mails that you receive from Spartan Fund.

    Morgan, grew up in the Livingston county area. During her college years she attended the University of Vermont where she earned a business administration degree. While at the University of Vermont, Morgan lettered in Women’s basketball for 4 seasons.
